The 2025 GNGU Open, hosted at Waterkloof Golf Club, proved to be an exhilarating event from start to finish. The course was in immaculate condition, providing the perfect backdrop for a thrilling four rounds of competitive golf.
After Round 1, the leaderboard was closely packed, with numerous players within striking distance of the lead. The stakes heightened following Round 2, as the cut came at just 3 over par, ensuring a nail-biting conclusion with the remaining 66 players.
The drama built over the final two rounds, culminating in a gripping finish. Centurion Country Club's Charl Barnard displayed nerves of steel as he birdied the 18th hole to seal the victory. With rounds of 70, 66, 69, and 65, Barnard finished one stroke ahead of Fancourt’s Morris Shiefner, who had been a fierce contender throughout the tournament.
It was a remarkable display of skill and composure from Barnard, who claimed the title with confidence and precision. Waterkloof Golf Club was proud to host such a prestigious event, and we look forward to next year’s GNGU Open, where the competition is sure to be just as fierce.
