This past weekend, Waterkloof Golf Club proudly hosted the Waterkloof Junior Closed Tournament, and what an unforgettable event it was! The fairways were buzzing with youthful energy, determination, and plenty of unforgettable moments as our junior members battled it out for top honors.

From start to finish, the competition showcased the depth of young talent we have at the club. Each player brought their A-game, playing with heart, pride, and a true love for the sport. The weather played its part too, with great conditions setting the scene for a spectacular two days of golf.

After some fierce competition, we are thrilled to announce Xander Booysen as our 2025 Junior Champion! His composure, consistency, and focus stood out, and we couldn’t be prouder of his achievement.

More than just a tournament, the Junior Closed is a celebration of the future of golf at Waterkloof. A huge thank you to all the players, parents, and supporters who made the weekend so special — and of course, our staff who kept everything running smoothly.

We’re already looking forward to next year. Until then, keep swinging, juniors!

Reading about the Waterkloof Junior Closed really reminded me how much focus and discipline sports like golf can teach from a young age. That same mindset of patience and strategy has actually helped me a lot when exploring other types of skill-based activities online — for instance, I recently discovered Aviator South Africa which offers a unique take on timing and decision-making, quite similar to what golfers experience under pressure. It’s interesting how lessons from the fairway can apply in such different settings.
